The Region
Le Manoir du Vigneron is located on the edge of the historic village of Puissalicon, with its 11th Century château, local shops and a bar; it is a lovely, unspoilt and tranquil village.
Domaine La Belle Croix is only 3 minutes walk into Puissalicon and offers wine-tasting on the premises.
The house is ideally placed to explore the region of Hérault. The surrounding areas offer a great deal for those seeking either quiet relaxation, activities or tourist destinations.
The Domaine and Restaurant La Maison Lafon is a short stroll from the house offering wine tasting and cheese and meat platters for lunch (for bookings contact Facebook – Famille Bruno Lafon).
There is also a tapas bar and pizza restaurant a short walk from the house.
Béziers

The town of Béziers is only a 20 minute drive away, and well worth a trip on a Friday morning to see the fabulous flower market in the tree lined main boulevard, followed by a relaxed lunch in one of the numerous restaurants.
Béziers is the Hérault’s second largest town, with its 12th Century cathedral. This historic town is the birthplace of Pierre Paul Riquet (creator of the Canal du Midi) and capital of wine and rugby.
Street theatres are to be found in the town centre some days during high season and you follow the actors through the town as they tell their story from various ‘sets’ in the winding back streets, usually ending up at the Cathedral for a dramatic finale with fireworks.

Montpellier is only a 45 minute drive away – it’s the capital of the Languedoc-Rousillon region, and a town with an old university tradition. Ancient architectural heritage stands alongside decidely modern developments.
At first sight, it looks very Parisien with many pavement cafés where the locals sit in the sun and have their lunch while listening to the street musicians. The Opera/Theatre is on the main square, as is a tram station. A good way to see the rest of the town for just a few euros.

Pézenas is also home to numerous arts and crafts artists whose workshops are open to the public.
There is a large market every Saturday and regular shows during high season which tell the story of Molière by means of street theatres.
It’s well worth wandering around the tiny streets of the old town – there are a couple of really nice restaurants tucked away from the town centre. Have a glass of wine at one of the many pavement cafés and watch the world drift by.
The mountains are a 40 minute drive and, in particular the breathtaking Gorge d’Héric offers an opportunity to swim and picnic in the cool river in a stunning location.
